COLE’S TROUT
Founder of Cole's Trout, Chris Zabriskie had a grant to develop small businesses in Tucker County, West Virginia. He was working with a fish hatchery in Elkins and a chef from White Grass Ski Center on producing products that used the fish from the hatchery. He was selling fish directly to restaurants but also wanted to develop a line of food products to sell in stores. I was asked to develop a brand to capture the attention of customers all over the state. While traveling I was looking at a map and notice the five river branches in Tucker County. I was also fond of a name of a road in southwestern Pennsylvania called Five Forks Dinner Bell Road. I decided to combine the ideas and the product brand became Five Forks Market. I worked with Chris for many years and eventually he created the brand, Cole’s Trout. Chris developed the food products while I worked on branding. We carried the design throughout all of his products.
